Eventhough not complete usage of entire tune, i think there could be one more occassion when KVM had used the tune of Ilayaraja.
The original song is "Maane maane maane chinna penne" from "Vellai Roja" which was adapted as "Kaani Kaani kaani raatiri kaani" from "SP Bhayankar" (ANR-Krishnam Raju-Sridevi starrer).
As per IMDB both songs are released in 1983 which makes it difficult to guess which is original and which one is adaptation. However, going by orchestration, I feel Ilaya raja's version was original.
there is one more song.. the name of the movie is khaidhi no 79 starring satyaraj and radha. the original song is "hey raja nuvu nenokate" which was re used in mudhula mavayya as "hey raja kulasa naadhi". can u throw some light on this?
Raaja garu, Interesting information. I differ a bit on Keeravani's opinion with due respect. The comparision of 'Nannu vadali' and 'pothi vachcha' - to me it looks somewhat resemblance (as you rightly said, 'gurthuku vachche' resemblance) .. and to me it looks like a pure chance ..it is still debatable ofcourse.. But the comparision of bombai priyudu, can directly be done with ilayaraaja's pothi vachcha.. The line 'Adiri padina pedavikenti artham' .. directly matches with 'pesi pesi raasi aanade' ... To be sure enough, if we listen to next line ..i.e. '.. adhara kaagitam, nee madhura santhakam' vs. 'Aaalanade ..romba naa...lanade' ..To be frank I don't see Keeravani's tune resembling close to nannu vadali except for feel, I see much more closer to Pothi vachcha..

I'm so glad to hear the reasons behind KV Mahadevan using Ilayaraja's tune. It was really surprising to hear the Telugu song for the first time.
I felt the Bombay Priyudu song is closer to Pothi Vacha than Nannu Vadali.
